About Me! 

Hi! My name is Rebecca Smith. I graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with minors in both Mathematics, and Biology. I am licensed to teach all Science and Math courses in high school. I have been teaching for over 14 years in North Carolina, and this is my 7th year at Hoggard! I taught AP Chemistry for 8 years and am excited to teach IB Chemistry for the 3rd time this year. I received National Board Certification in 2017, and renewed my certification in December 2021.  When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, spending time with my small group at church, reading, hiking and being outside - (I recently discovered a love for paddle boarding!!). I also ran my third half marathon in February 2023 and I really love traveling!! I traveled to Utah/Arizona in April and it was fantastic!
