Problem Statement: A concert organizer has scheduled a show for this weekend. The theater technical crew needs to safely hang a stage prop so that it will be easily visible for the audience.
Design Statement: I will design, build and test a lift system to suspend a prop.
Criteria:
The lift must use a crank to input force and motion.
The lift must use at least one lever and at least one gear or pully.
The system must be able to lift 5 pounds 20 feet off the floor, but the prototype will be one-tenth scale of lift .5 pounds 2 feet off the floor.
The system must use at least one 3D-printed part.
Constraints:
The system must be finished by April 9, and the portfolio must be submitted by April 22.
You must work with one partner.
The system may only be built out of VEX parts and the 3D-printed object.
Insert concept sketches from your engineering notebook.
Insert a system diagram, and a Fusion drawing of your 3D part.
Insert photos and videos of your system in action.
Compose a paragraph that address the following questions:
Does your solution prototype meet the established solution criteria from the design brief? Explain.
If your solution prototype fails to meet one or more of the established criteria, how will you specifically re-design it to meet the criteria?
Make a recommendation(s) to improve some aspect of your prototype e.g. aesthetics, functionality, durability, usability, etc.
