Hailing from the mountains of West Virginia, I moved to Wilmington, NC, with my family in 2008 and
began my teaching career at Eugene Ashley High School as a lateral entry teacher. Since then, I have
taught a variety of courses including Microsoft IT Academy, Digital Communications, and Multimedia
and Webpage Design. In recent years, my focus has been on Entrepreneurship I and Honors
Entrepreneurship II, where I enjoy guiding students as they develop business ideas and essential
career skills.
In 2013, I earned National Board Certification in Career and Technical Education, renewing in 2022. I
also hold a Master’s degree in Business and Information Technology Education from East Carolina
University (2017). Beyond the classroom, I have served on the School Improvement Team, advised
both the National Technical Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America, and mentored
beginning teachers.
My philosophy of education is rooted in the belief that nobody wins when a child fails. I strive to meet
each student’s individual needs and to teach not just content, but the art of learning itself—skills that
empower students in school, in their careers, and in life.
