3D Printing

What is 3D Printing?

The 3D printing process builds a three-dimensional object from a computer-aided design (CAD) model, usually by successively adding material layer by layer from a digital file.

How do I get started?

The most difficult part of 3D printing is the design stage. To successfully create a 3D image, you must first learn the art of 3D design. Although there are many programs that you can use, Tinkercad is the one that is supported in the Trask Media Center.

I'm ready to TINKER! Join our MakerSpace TinkerCad Class

We will print things that you design from scratch! I suggest that your first project be a keychain/bag tag. Follow the steps in this video. (click here) How to Create a 3D Key Chain/Bag Tag (Turn on Closed Captioning to Make It Easier to Follow)

There are several tutorials in Tinkercad, I recommend you start there. Once your design is created, you must save it to a STL file and email it to me at nicole.silvers@nhcs.net.  I will email you to let you know when your design is ready to print. We can arrange a time for you to come in and see your design being printed.
