What: The Murray Madrigals is an advanced, audition-based vocal ensemble open to students currently enrolled in chorus of all three grade levels. Members of this group will explore more challenging choral literature and develop higher-level musicianship skills. In addition to performing their own selections at the winter and spring concerts, the Murray Madrigals will participate in additional performances throughout the school year, representing our school at special events and showcasing their talents to the wider community.
When: This ensemble will meet everyday during the Murray Mastery block from 8:30-9:10 with the exception of SEL Wednesdays. Occasionally, additional afterschool rehearsals may be scheduled to prepare for performances.
How do I get involved?: The audition will require you to record a 30 second cut of you singing a song of your choice and to submit it into Google Classroom by Monday, August 31st 2026
What does the calendar of performances look like?:

Are performances mandatory: Because the Murray Madrigals is representing the best of the Murray Chorus program, it is expected that students make these performances a priority. However, because many of these community performances still have unannounced dates, there is flexibility for student scheduling. I highly encourage you to still consider joining this ensemble, even if there is a date or two that you know conflicts with your schedule. I would rather have your singing voice join us for the whole year rather than have you miss out on an opportunity because of a minor scheduling conflict. The same flexibility will be extended for conflicts that arise with any possible afterschool rehearsals. Please try to communicate any scheduling conflicts to Ms. Heck as soon as you know of them.
Sounds great, but I have more questions!: I am happy to answer them! Please email me at jennifer.heck@nhcs.net
