Meghan Blackwood is from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and completed her Bachelors of Music Degree in Music Education at Westminster Choir College of Rider University, graduating summa cum laude.
Ms. Blackwood has a passion for creating inclusive, safe, and positive learning environments for all students. She believes music acts as a vessel that connects us to our emotions, others, and the world around us. Performing/responding to/creating music promotes growth within academia, socialization, emotional development, self-awareness, and worldly awareness.
Ms. Blackwood has performance experience with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, Westminster Opera Theatre, and the Vox Blue Vocal Jazz ensemble. She has worked under conductors Yannick Nezet-Seguin & Stephane Deneve, and has toured with the Westminster Choir, Westminster Symphonic Choir and the Schola Cantorum choir. She has placed in solo competitions such as the New Jersey NATS competition, the Art Song Festival, and the Westminster Voice Awards. Ms. Blackwood has done performances and masterclasses under Jake Heggie, Jamie Bernstein, Sylvia McNair, Susan Ashbaker, and William Bolcom.
Aside from music, her passions include physical fitness, cooking, reading, and time with family & friends.
