Meet Your Teacher:

My name is Brandi Laney and I am beginning my tenth year of teaching at Wrightsboro!  Previously I have taught first and second grades at Snipes Academy and also worked as a Teacher Assistant at Forest Hills Global Elementary, for a total of 18 years in education!  

Originally from Monroe, North Carolina, I graduated from UNCW in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in Theater and a minor in Creative Writing.  Through my job working with children's books at Barnes and Noble, and from being involved in a variety of children's theater productions, I recognized my true calling was to be a teacher.  I graduated a second time from UNCW in 2006 with a degree in Elementary Education.  In 2017 I continued my growth as an educator by certifying as a National Board Certified Teacher.

At home I have my husband, Mr. Jef, who is a much better cook than me and is the smartest person I know!  Together we have a 5 year old daughter, Maybelle, who keeps us on our toes and laughing!  Our family is rounded out by our scruffy dog, Pancho.  I tell lots of stories about my people and pet during the day at school!  

I love to learn, love to read, and love many different kinds of music.  I can play piano and guitar, and enjoy experimenting with percussion instruments and banjo.  I am always trying to learn new instruments, although I really am not a master at playing any of them!  Travel is important to me and I love to laugh - loud and frequently!  

I can't wait to hear stories, interests, and jokes from my students this year!  Let's get ready to have some fun and LEARN A LOT!
