This is the behavior matrix that will be used in Ms. Diehl’s classes. If a scholar does something that is against established behavioral expectations, the following steps will be taken.
First infraction: The scholar will be warned that said behavior is not acceptable nor appropriate within the classroom
Second infraction for same behavior: Ms. Diehl will remind the student of the established classroom norms and expectations. Ms. Diehl will call the scholar’s parents and/or guardians. A “Behavior Contract” will be given to the scholar to take home to share with their parents and/or guardians. The Behavior Contract is to be signed by the parents and/or guardians, signed by the student, and returned to Ms. Diehl the next school day. This will include the student reflecting upon their behavior, explaining why they chose to act out the way they did, and how they would handle the situation differently next time
Third infraction for the same behavior will result in a phone call to the parents and/or guardians in order to set up a Parent/Teacher conference to discuss the observed behavior within the classroom. The Dean of Students will be notified of the situation and advised of previous steps taken to correct the undesired behavior
Fourth infraction for the same behavior will result in the student being removed from the classroom and a referral will be made to the appropriate Assistant Principal, Dean of Students, and the school’s MTSS team
