All About Me!
Welcome! My name is Amanda Edwards. I will be starting my twelfth year of teaching (all in North Carolina!) this fall and starting my seventh year in New Hanover County.
Background:
Grew up in a small town (ever heard of Beulaville?)
Went to ECU (I am a Pirate and proud of it!)
Lived in Raleigh for many many years. I consider it home and try to visit often :)
Worked at Target as a manager before becoming a teacher 12 years ago.
Teaching background:
My degree is in Dance Education. I am certified K-12 dance as well as K-6 Elementary.
Spent 5 years teaching in Clayton, NC. In those five years, I taught second and fifth grade.
In New Hanover County, I've taught fifth grade and third grade.
Very happy to be at PORTERS NECK, teaching FOURTH grade for the third year in a row! Math and Science are the best!
A little more about me:
As I said above, I went to ECU. I bleed purple! I love college football (Pirates of course!)
I love the beach. It is a big part of why I moved back to Wilmington.
My 17 year old pup passed away last year. Miss him dearly, but I adopted a sassy little girl I named Sadie this summer. She's part pitt and is a handful :)
I am an only child. But oddly enough, my grandmother was one of 23 children!
I'm obsessed with Flaming Amy's, good sushi, Mexican food and COFFEE!
Pre-covid, I volunteered during the summer with the sea turtles on Masonboro Island.
I collect coffee mugs when I travel and I love a good road trip (especially to Ocracoke!)
Favorites:
Food: Mexican, sushi, good pizza
School subject: Math and science
Restaurant: Flaming Amy's, Two Guys, Double Happiness, Ceviche's, Jax's Deli
Colors: Purple mostly, but I like bright colors
Sport/Team: ECU! (And Carolina Panthers)
Dessert: Ice cream (cookie dough, salted caramel or birthday cake flavor)
Coffee: Anything sweet! Starbucks, PCJ, Grinders
