About Me!

Welcome! My name is Ashton Caruthers, but my students call me Ms. C. I graduated from Marshall University in Huntington, WV, in May 2021 with a bachelor's degree in Secondary Science Education. I completed my M.Ed. in STEM Education with a science concentration from NC State in May of 2025. I am also the Science Olympiad coach for Hoggard and the Teach STEM Coordinator through the Young Scientists Academy (YSA) with NHCS. Get ready for hands-on activities, labs, and research projects if you are taking a class with me!

My favorite things to do outside of the classroom are taking my puppy, Lego, on long runs through our parks, boxing, and making crazy sourdough recipes! I love teaching, and I absolutely love science, so this is my dream job! I can't wait to start this new year with you. If you don't love science at the start of my class, you'll at least like it by the end. My biggest goal is to help students fall in love with science and the amazing world around us! 😊

I started traveling the world through Education First (EF) Tours in 2024. This is not school-sponsored, but an outside, trusted organization with decades of experience helping students gain knowledge and understanding through travel! I have now been to Italy and taken students to Japan (2024) and New Zealand and Australia (2026)! Ask me about going to Venice, the Alps, and Paris in summer 2028!
