About Me

Hello! My name is Austin Tingen and I am so excited to start another school year here at Holly Shelter Middle. I was born and raised in Apex, North Carolina. I graduated with a bachelors degree in education from North Carolina State University and upon graduating moved out to Wilmington. This will be my fourth year at Holly Shelter. In my free time, you will find me near some body of water, whether that be the beach, lake or pool. Along with these aquatic passions comes my love of sports and athletics. I played soccer and ran track competitively growing up. I also enjoy playing basketball, snowboarding, wakeboarding, and just staying as fit as possible. My love for reading and writing especially in the field of history brought me to teaching, but the relationships with students is what brings me the most overwhelming reward from teaching. I am very excited to get to know everyone and grow throughout the upcoming school year.
