CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
Students will…
1. adhere to all school rules in the classroom.
2. be positive and respectful and practice tolerance and patience.
3. participate and complete their own work.
4. work diligently and utilize time wisely in class and at home.
I do not expect any behavior issues nor will they be tolerated as it impedes the learning of others.
Minor infractions will be handled as such: first incident will be a teacher-student conversation; second incident may result in a removal from class; third incident will involve administration.
HALL PASS/BATHROOM
Please ask first (at an appropriate time) and take the class hall pass. Utilize your time wisely as others may be waiting. One person in/one person out procedure.
CLASSWORK/NOTES/PARTICIPATION
We will be taking notes and doing reinforcement activities almost every day. You are expected to keep up with all of the notes and activities that we complete in class. The work assigned to you is not meant to be busy work but designed to help you remember and understand major concepts and important themes in the curriculum. Please keep up with your notes and assignments in a timely manner.
GRADING PROCEDURES
Students will have several opportunities to accumulate grades within the course. They should understand that we will periodically be grading a wide variety of both summative and formative tasks. This class implements Project Based / Inquiry Led Learning and focuses on improving students conceptual knowledge while increasing their critical thinking skills. Students are encouraged to check Power School frequently and will be openly communicated with as graded assignments are posted throughout the semester.
Grades will be averaged based on accuracy and completion of classwork, projects, and assessments.
Cheating and Plagiarism will NOT be tolerated. What constitutes cheating? Copying off of someone else's work (paper copy or picture on a phone); aiding and abetting a cheater; talking during tests/quizzes; literally copying and pasting another student's or author's work w/out acknowledging the source, etc. Any student caught cheating in any class will be written up and have a parent contacted. The student will then receive an automatic 0% in PowerSchool.
Unexcused Late work will result in an automatic deduction of 10 percent off of the grade made.
Make-up work is completely the student's responsibility. If you are sick or have an extenuating circumstance please email me and let me know the situation. Also, if you are aware of anything that may keep you from taking a test/quiz please let me know so we can arrange for another time for you to take it.
