We will be using Class Dojo as our classroom management system, as well as our parent-teacher communication system.
With this system, we are able to award points for positive behaviors and take away points for negative behaviors. Positive behaviors include, but are not limited to: being on task, helping others, following directions, and listening. Negative behaviors include, but are not limited to: disrespect, not being kind, blurting out, and being off task.
Class Dojo is simply a tool. It helps us to recognize positive and negative habits in the classroom. This does not take place of having conversations about how your child is doing in class.
Teachers will keep track of Class Dojo points through the use of the app on their phone or iPad.
We will track points each day and they will be reset every week. Students accumulate points throughout the week that they can "cash in" for treasure box every Friday!
Apart from Dojo, our class has our “Bee-utiful Work” jar for whole group recognition. When the class receives a compliment from another teacher they earn a bee or star to add to the jar. Once the jar is filled, the class will receive an award. This is another way for students to be accountable and work as a team, while also celebrating their successes for the day!
