Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books is a reading competition group for students in elementary, middle, and high school.  Each Battle of the Books team is sponsored by a school faculty member with the support of additional volunteers.  Students read from an approved book list during the school year from a variety of genres.  They are quizzed on the books in preparation for the school and district level competitions.  Students who volunteer to join Battle of the Books attend meetings during homeroom at least two days a week as well as one weekly after school meeting.  Students read texts from the Battle of the Books approved list for independent reading.  Books read will be logged as well as scores from quizzes.  

We encourage students to join our award winning Battle of the Books team!  We received 1st place in the middle school division in New Hanover County Schools for two years in a row, 2023-2024 and 2024-2025!  To be a part of this winning team, please stop by the media center if you are interested in information about Battle of the Books for the 2025-2026  season.
