Battle of the Books is for 4th and 5th graders. We will begin practicing soon. We would love for you to participate! Mrs. Candela and Mrs. Boger are the Battle of the Books team coaches.
Summer 2025 Homework (June-August)-Read at least 4 books from the 25-26 Battle of the Books list
Sept. 12 -Battle of the Books information session will be held in the library at 7:40. Classroom teachers will send interested students to learn more about the program and students will leave the meeting with a permission form to allow them to participate.
September-October Homework - Students should read at least 2 books from the 25-26 Battle of the Books list
October 14 and 28- After checking in with their homeroom teacher, students will come to the library to practice title and author matching as well as updating novels read on our team spreadsheet.
November Homework-Students should read at least 1 more book from the 25-26 BOB list
November 11-After checking in with their homeroom teacher, students will come to the library to practice title and author matching as well as updating novels read on our team spreadsheet.
November 25-Students will take a test on ALL novels from our BOB list to determine who makes our PNES 25-26 Battle of the Books team.
December-Students who make the team will begin to practice twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, in the morning. We will identify at this time which novels still need to be read for our team to have knowledge of all the books and "assign" novels to BOB team members. We will also begin practicing the question format for BOB through mock competitions.
December-January Homework-BOB team members read assigned BOB books,practice title and author matching at home and practice questions at least 20 minutes 2 times a week on the BOB team website.
January-The team will continue to practice twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. We will practice the question format for BOB with mock competitions. We will also assign expert books for students to focus on during their study time at home.
