The NHCS district is now implementing the C.H.A.M.P.S framework which is a positive classroom management system created by Randall Sprick to set clear behavioral expectations for students during different tasks and transitions.
C — Conversation: Can students talk during this activity? If so, at what volume level (such as silent, whisper, or group voice)?
H — Help: How do students signal if they need help or want the teacher's attention?
A — Activity: What is the specific task, assignment, or objective students are expected to complete?
M — Movement: Are students allowed to move around the room? If yes, when and how are they permitted to transition?
P — Participation: What does active, responsible engagement look and sound like during this specific task?
S — Success: What happens when expectations are met? Success is achieved when everyone follows the established guidelines.
