EOC's
Career & Technical Education has traditionally maintained rigor and strong integrity through end of course testing and providing an opportunity for students to show their skills through credential recognition. Every CTE course has a mandated state exam. Many of the courses have pre-test, benchmark and unit tests in addition to the post assessment. All students involved in a CTE course must take an exam.
WorkKeys (ACT) http://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services.html
WorkKeys is a job skills assessment system measuring "real world" skills that employers believe are critical to job success. These skills are valuable for any occupation (skilled or professional) and at any level of education. The North Carolina Career Readiness Certificate can be obtained in either a platinum, gold, silver or bronze level. Students in New Hanover County Schools take a battery of tests in three areas: Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information and Locating Information. Testing is given to seniors who have a concentration and/or completer of a Career & Technical Education Cluster/Pathway.
Other Credential Opportunities:
In many of the CTE programs offered at New Hanover County high schools, students may have an opportunity to take industry credential exams at the conclusion of their coursework. Some exams require additional fees not covered by NHCS. Examples:
