Welcome to the wonderful world of Kindergarten!
My name is Amy Gavin, and I have been teaching for nearly 20 years. I began my career in the small town of Fredonia, New York, after completing both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees while raising my three amazing boys: Trevor, Colton, and Tanner (who are now all grown up). My greatest joy is my family, including my husband, Tim, and our sweet little granddaughter, Mae.

As your child’s kindergarten teacher, my goal is to create a safe, loving, and nurturing environment where every child feels valued, accepted, and encouraged to reach their fullest potential. I believe education is a partnership between the child, family, school, and community, and I am committed to working together to support each student’s growth.

When I’m not in the classroom, I love running, reading, going to the beach, and spending time outdoors with my family. Every moment in kindergarten is an opportunity for learning... whether academic, social, emotional, or physical.  I cherish being part of these first school experiences. Thank you for trusting me with your child during this important year. I look forward to a joyful, magical, and fun-filled journey of learning with you and your child!

Hi, my name is Ms. Ferrentino! I am thrilled to be your Kindergarten teacher this year! I am originally from outside of Philadelphia, PA. I moved to Wilmington, NC in 2021 to enjoy the nice climate and friendly atmosphere. I graduated from JMU with a Masters in Education and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary education. This will be my 4th year teaching at Holly Tree! Before teaching elementary education, I was a nanny for elementary school kids for about 2 years. When I am not teaching, you can find me spending time on the beach or kayaking with my twin sister.

I live with my twin sister who is also a teacher. She is my best friend. Together we love exploring North Carolina beaches and mountains. We enjoy anything outdoors. We love to explore the different nature North Carolina has. Also we love to bake different kinds of baked goods and find yummy ice cream shops to eat a sweet treat at. We also love to visit back home in PA where we love to see our family and go to Phillies and Eagles games (go birds)!

Hi, I am Mrs. MacDaniel.

I am married to my wonderful husband, Justin.  I have one little boy, Griffin, who just turned ten in July. We love spending time together at the beach, watching football, and playing with our dog, Banks.. I have lived in Wilmington for the past 21 years. I graduated from UNCW in 2008, and again with my Masters of Language and Literacy in 2015. I grew up in Charlotte with my parents, and my identical twin sister!

This will be my eighth year teaching Kindergarten, and my 14th  year at Holly Tree.  I am THRILLED to embark on this journey with your child! Previously, I taught first grade for seven years, and AIG for three years. I am so happy to be nurturing these young students to instill a lifelong love of learning.  

Please know that I am here to help make this transition to school a great one for all of you! It is so important to keep communication open between us, and I would love to talk with you whenever you feel the need! I look forward to a great year!
