*notebook/binder (your choice) to store handouts/take notes
* composition book (not spiral) for daily writing

2023-24 Semester 2 Schedule:
1st block: English IV Honors
2nd block: English II
3rd block: English II
4th block: Planning
Tutoring available by appointment. Email me to set up a day.
English test days are Monday and Wednesday.
Missing/late work policy:
Late work will be accepted as follows:
Up to one calendar week
Reduction of points by 5% per day off the grade earned
After 7 days late, assignment results in a 0
Communicate with me as individual assignments may vary. Flex time provides you a weekly opportunity to receive assistance.
Grading:
Tests/projects 40% (Writing assignments will be in this category.)
Quizzes 25%
Classwork 25%
Homework/Other 10% (Diagnostic tests will be in this category.)
VOCABULARY:
*Vocabulary will be cumulative (lessons 1-12) Quiz 2 will cover lessons 1 & 2. Quiz 3 will cover lessons 1-3, etc.
Weekly Vocabulary Quizzes will be given weekly on Wednesdays.
NO RED INK GRAMMAR: Please join the link for your block that is listed on the webpage. Thank you.
NO RED INK Practice: This is optional. You may do as little or as much as you would like in order to prepare for the quiz.
NO RED INK "Learn" option: You may search a topic and practice without my assigning that topic. Extra credit will be awarded when you communicate this to me. Sometimes it only takes a few extra minutes to improve an area of weakness. I am proud of your efforts to take responsibility for your education.
No Red Ink (Grammar) A NRI grade of 80% is expected. Ask for one (only) reset if needed or review quiz with Mrs. Wood to earn 100.
ACT PREP with METHODIZE (JUNIORS ONLY):
Grades of 80% or higher = 100%. Quizzes may be taken up to three times before the deadline for credit. Quiz dates should be during this semester. :)
READING COMPREHENSION:
We will be using Actively Learn and Common Lit as supplements to novels and literature books.
