2026 Spring Schedule:
1st Block: Planning
2nd Block: Honors English IV
3rd Block: TT English IV with Mrs. Loving
4th Block: Honors English II
All students will have weekly No Red Ink (grammar) assignments and will be using Common Lit and Actively Learn for reading comprehension practice.
Seniors will have weekly cumulative vocabulary quizzes and will complete a research paper that will count as two test grades.
Sophomores will be using My Perspectives curriculum via workbooks and online.

WEDNESDAY Flex time provides you a weekly opportunity to receive assistance. You may also attend my Thursday (BYOB and READ) Flex to update grades and receive tutoring.
Grading:
Grade Weights
Assignments are typically divided into categories, each with a specific weight contributing to the final grade. Common categories include:
Q1 & Q3= 35% Major, 35% Minor. 15% Formative. 15% Mid Term
Q2 & Q4= 40% Major, 40% Minor, 20% Formative (Final Exam)
Major Assessments: Tests, projects, research papers, and other significant assignments.
Minor Assessments: Quizzes, classwork, homework, and other smaller assignments.
Formative Assessments: Class participation, engagement, and other related activities.
Final Exam (20% Overall Grade)
AI tools are sources that must be cited using [include appropriate style guide] when used. Failure to cite AI tools is a violation of NHCS Policy 4310: Integrity and Civility.

NO RED INK Practice: This is optional. You may do as little or as much as you would like in order to prepare for the quiz.
NO RED INK "Learn" option: You may search a topic and practice without my assigning that topic. Extra credit will be awarded when you communicate this to me. Sometimes it only takes a few extra minutes to improve an area of weakness. I am proud of your efforts to take responsibility for your education.
No Red Ink (Grammar) A NRI grade of 80% is expected. Ask for a reset if needed or review quiz with Mrs. Wood to earn 100. Late NRI assignments will receive a zero. You may update this grade in Flex on Wednesday or Thursday.
READING COMPREHENSION:
We will be using Actively Learn and Common Lit as supplements to novels and literature books.
