WECHS Ambassadors
Congratulations! If you are considering the idea of becoming a WECHS ambassador you have come to the right place. Everything you want or need to know can be found on this page. If you have any questions, please e-mail Ms. Troche (jamie.troche@nhcs.net).
Being an ambassador is about service to WECHS and the community and the development and demonstration of leadership. It is an honor and a privilege to be a WECHS ambassador. To become an ambassador you must ensure that you meet the requirements to apply, ensure that you will be able to commit to the requirements of being a WECHS ambassador, and then apply to become one.
Requirements for application:
Current sophomore, junior, senior, or super-senior status (graduating students still expected to participate in Spring).
Students must have a 3.5 college GPA or higher. If two or more courses show as non-complete (NS, W, F, or D) on your college transcript, your eligibility may be affected.
If you do not have a college GPA yet, student must have no high school grades less than a B.
Be enthusiastic, motivated, creative, friendly, and possess leadership qualities.
Possess good interpersonal skills and enjoy representing WECHS.
References from two academic or professional contacts using form provided, which addresses motivation, reliability, professional appearance, positive demeanor, and attendance.

Requirements as an ambassador:
Within the School:
Students must be able to commit to at least 1 hour per week in the ambassador role AT WECHS
Tutor at WECHS with freshmen and/or sophomores as needed.
Assist freshmen and sophomores with organization and interpersonal skills.
Assist faculty/staff around WECHS with school related tasks.
Help planning special events.
Attend monthly ambassador meetings
Tracking/Accountability for roles within ambassadors.
Participate in Orientation, WECHS graduation, recruitment, and other prescribed events.
Serve as student representatives of Wilmington Early College at special events and when WECHS staff is not available to greet visitors or guests.
Speak on student panels relative to college experiences and goal-setting.
Provide tours of WECHS campuses, including downtown when necessary.
In the Community:
Students must be able to participate in at least one ambassador sponsored event in service to the community (could range anywhere from local elementary/middle schools, hospital volunteering, food banks, animal rescue, senior centers, etc.)
Ability to speak in front of a group.
Must understand that ambassador service requirements/activities must be considered first priority in light of other work commitments.
Peer Role Model:
Provide guidance to younger students when needed.
Maintain a 3.0 or higher in all classes.
Must be sensitive to the needs of current and potential students.
Must be able to work well with others in a team environment.
Always dress in clean, well-maintained clothing as daily representatives of the early college.
Dress in professional clothing or standard Ambassador “uniform” with a name tag when participating in events as WECHS Ambassadors. Uniform = issued polo shirt and khaki pants – no cut-offs or capris, and low, black shoes.
Manage personal conflicts discretely and do not allow them to become a problem for others. (i.e., do not allow personal drama to affect positive role).
Do not bully, speak badly of others behind their backs, misuse social media, or misrepresent truth at any time and report when others do so.
Students may have their Ambassadorship revoked at any time if they are not adhering to standards. We follow the 3 strike rule!
