IB MISSION STATEMENT
The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

The Learner Portfolio: The learner portfolio is a space for students to reflect and consolidate their learning. The learner portfolio is also intended to support students in preparing for assessment. It is regarded as an essential learning tool. Students can utilize Google Drive and/or a notebook or folder for their LP.
We will complete a Practice Paper 1 and a Practice Paper 2 in class which will count as Summative Grades. The HLE is written in class together.
Annotating is an important part of reading in the IB setting, therefore I request each student buy the following books so they have their own copy in class to annotate and use for assessments:

DAY - TO - DAY CLASS EXPECTATIONS
✏️Have a pencil or something to write with, if you forget one, you may borrow one from the front, but please return it at the end of class
☎️ Cell phones should be silenced and placed phone in phone holder in the classroom- parents please contact the front office if you need to speak to your child. (In compliance with NC § 115C-76.100 – Effective 2025-2026: To support a focused, respectful learning environment and align with state law, Hoggard High School has implemented the following expectations regarding student use of wireless communication devices. School Policy)
✋Restroom - ONE student at a time, if the pass is gone, wait for the student to return, sign out/in on the clipboard
💦If you eat a snack, clean up after yourself, all drinks must have a lid
👨🏫 Respect Mrs. Mac’s space. Do not touch or remove anything from her desk without asking permission. Utilize the STUDENT SUPPLY center for your needs.
⏲At the end of class, stay in your seat until the bell rings - this is NON-NEGOTIABLE
