• Connect the key question and themes to modern examples (hit something from 1980 - Present Day in each unit) to help students build parallels between the past and their lives.

• Center your teaching in primary source and literacy skills: encourage student discourse, writing, and debate.

• Use the “Essential Questions” and “Guiding Questions” as the core of your unit: connect everything back to it, and make sure your final unit project-based assessment has students answer that question.
