The Zones of Regulation is a tool used in schools to help children understand and manage their emotions. It divides feelings into four color-coded zones:
Blue Zone: Low energy (sad, tired, bored).
Green Zone: Calm, focused, ready to learn.
Yellow Zone: Heightened alertness (excited, anxious, frustrated).
Red Zone: Intense emotions (anger, extreme stress).
The curriculum helps kids:
Identify feelings in themselves and others.
Use strategies to regulate emotions, like breathing exercises or taking breaks.
Build empathy and social awareness.
How parents can help: Talk about the zones at home, use the same language, model strategies, and offer choices for managing feelings. This helps reinforce emotional awareness and self-control skills learned at school.
