What is 3D Printing?
The 3D printing process builds a three-dimensional object from a computer-aided design (CAD) model, usually by successively adding material layer by layer from a digital file.
How do I get started?
The most difficult part of 3D printing is the design stage. To successfully create a 3D image, you must first learn the art of 3D design. Although there are many programs that you can use, Tinkercad is the one that is supported in the Trask Media Center.
I'm ready to TINKER!
First, make sure you have discussed this with your parents. They must approve your account in Tinkercad. You may use your NHCS email to create the account. Once your parents receive and approve your account, you are ready to go! There are several tutorials in Tinkercad, I recommend you start there. Once your design is created, you must save it to a STL file and email it to me at lisa.coley@nhcs.net. I will then convert your file into one that is readable by one of our two 3D printers in the media center. I will email you to let you know when your design is ready to print. We can arrange a time for you to come in and see your design being printed.
