Hello, Shining Stars Families!
My name is Christa Faison, and I am honored to teach here in my home town! It has been an absolute delight to teach at Snipes Academy, and I have been here for seven years!
I am a 2009 graduate of Wilmington Christian Academy, and a 2013 graduate of the University of North Carolina Wilmington, with a B.M. in Music Education through the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Scholarship. In 2017, I earned an M.M.Ed. in Music Education from the South Carolina School of the Arts (Anderson University), with Magna Cum Laude honors. I am also fully certified in Orff-Schulwerk, and Suzuki Violin Level I. I teach General Music, Violin, and Chorus here at Snipes. In 2019, I was graciously voted Snipes Academy Teacher of the Year (2018-2019), and a finalist for the New Hanover County Teacher of Year.
Outside of school, I am the Minister of Music for my church, violinist in the Wilmington Symphony and Tallis Chamber Orchestras, and a worship leader, festival performer, freelance violinist throughout New Hanover and surrounding counties, and private violin teacher.
Above all, I do what I do because of the children. I have had a plethora of amazing teachers in my lifetime, and I hope to pay it forward. I wish to be a catalyst by which they enjoy learning, and to influence them to take advantage of the unique and inspirational learning opportunities offered through music. I hope that my students enter my classroom excited to learn, grow, and create, exit feeling empowered to share with the world, and then return with the anticipation of doing it all over again!
