Hello Families and Students,
Welcome to our preschool class at Howe Preschool! We are so excited to begin this new learning journey together. My name is Mrs. Eakins, and along with Mrs. Haney, we are thrilled to share our love for learning, exploring, and growing with your children.
In our classroom, we believe children learn best through play, hands-on experiences, meaningful routines, and strong relationships. We focus on building a safe, caring, and engaging environment where every child feels valued, supported, and encouraged to try new things. We celebrate curiosity, kindness, and progress—big and small!
We also believe that families are an important part of a child’s success. We look forward to staying connected with you through regular communication, photos, and updates so you can share in your child’s learning and accomplishments.
We cannot wait to get to know each of you and make this a joyful, fun-filled year of learning together. Thank you for trusting us with your children—we are so happy you are part of our preschool family!
Warmly,
Mrs. Eakins & Mrs. Haney

Dear Parents,
Welcome to Preschool! Children grow in so many remarkable ways between the ages of three and six. We are excited to join together to set the tone and lay the foundation for each child’s educational career.
Important information:
Your child’s teachers are: Carla Eakins and Ariel Haney
Preschool sessions: 7:00 AM to 1:45pm
Breakfast, lunch, and snacks provided.
We provide sheets and blankets for rest time.
Communication with teachers: The easiest way to communicate is through the Teaching Strategies Family app. It will give you the best connection to your child’s learning and daily communication with teachers. Other ways to communicate: email, via phone, or written note.
Items each student will need:
Backpack
Change of clothes in a ziplock bag labeled with their name.
Pull ups and wipes as needed
Refillable water bottle that seals (name and date on bottle must be labeled daily & contain water only due to State and Health Department regulations)
Family or child with loved ones photo for family board, no larger than 4x6.
Please write your child’s name on his/her backpack and on any coat tags or sweaters they might wear to school. Every year we have coats and sweaters left on the bus or on the playground and we don’t know to whom they belong.
Transportation: Please let us know how your child will go home. All transportation changes must be done through the front office in writing, the family messaging app, by email or written note. Changes may NOT be made over the phone. ALL TRANSPORTATION CHANGES MUST BE IN BY 12PM.
Earlier check out ends at 1:15pm. Any person picking up students must have a valid ID 18 or older and be on the pick up list. Car Tags will be issued for car riders. Tags must be displayed in the window (if no tag you need to go to the front office to get one and return to the car line) Car rider drop off is from 7:00-7:20am & pickup is from 1:45-2:00 pm. If you are late you’ll need to go to the front office. (You will be asked to show ID at the front door if you are picking up.)
Note: We ask that you keep toys and trinkets at home, items can get lost or broken. We look forward to a wonderful year of learning together! Please know that we value your input, time and could not do without your support. You are always welcome to call, message us on the Teaching Strategies Family app. Thanks for working with us to create a wonderful year for your child.

1. Family Talk Time
Have your child tell you:
One thing they liked at school
One thing they learned
One thing that made them happy
Parents can help by asking questions and encouraging full sentences.
2. Teach the Grown-Up
Ask your child to teach you something they know:
A song
A letter or number
A classroom routine (lining up, cleaning up, sharing)
This builds confidence and language skills.
3. Help at Home Challenge
Have your child help with one simple job:
Picking up toys
Matching socks
Wiping a table
Talk about being a “helper” and say thank you for their hard work.
4. Move & Count
Together, choose a movement and count:
10 jumps
10 claps
10 toe touches
Great for math + self-regulation.
5. Story Retell (No Book Needed)
Ask your child to retell:
A story they know
A show they watched
Something that happened today
Encourage beginning, middle, and end.
6. Feelings Check-In
Ask:
“How did you feel today?”
“What made you feel happy/silly/frustrated?”
Supports social-emotional growth.
This week’s homework:
Spend 5–10 minutes talking, moving, or helping together.
No papers, no supplies—just time together!
