I am: a historian at heart and an educator by calling, with experience in both museums and the classroom. I love learning just as much as I love teaching, and I am excited to get to know each of my students each year. Parents and guardians, your partnership matters. We do our best work when we are working together to support students.
In our classroom: we do not just learn history. We build it. My approach is rooted in what I call universal constructivism. Students learn best when they actively make meaning in different ways. This can include asking questions, analyzing sources, telling stories, having discussions, and making creative connections. History is not something students passively receive. It is something they question, interpret, and connect to their own understanding of the world.
Planbook: linked to the left, is your best resource for staying up to date with what is happening in class. If your student is absent, everything they need will be posted there. Be sure you are viewing the correct date, or it may appear blank or show the wrong assignments. Planbook is also embedded below.
Google Classroom: will also be used occasionally. Students will have access and may find assignments or materials posted there, but Planbook should be your primary reference.
Infinite Campus: is updated weekly and is the best way to monitor your child’s progress. While progress reports and report cards are issued quarterly, you can check grades at any time. If you need login information, please contact Jennifer Izzo at jennifer.izzo@nhcs.net.
Classroom donations: are always appreciated, especially hard candy and tissues.
If you: have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out at phillip.busch@nhcs.net.
