Phone Policy
Per school policy, cell phones may not be visible. They must be in a locker or bookbag. Students violating any of the rules for cell phone use may have their phone confiscated by the classroom teacher. Teachers can decide to return the phone at the end of the class period or the end of the school day. Please see the ‘23-24 Parent/Student Handbook for the complete policy.

These supplies will be needed for science for the school year:

Folder (1): 3 prong + 2 pocket
Pencils
Grading Scale
90-100 A
80-89 B
70-79 C
60-69 D
59 & below F
Percentages
These are the weighted percentages for grading.
Tests/Projects = 35%
Quizzes = 30%
Classwork/Homework = 35%
Late Work
All work for a quarter is due by a specified date near the end of that quarter.
Grading system
NHCS updated its grading policy (#3400) as of 2022. The complete version is in the Parent/Student Handbook. Please make sure you review it with your student.
Weighting
Each assignment will fall into the 3 categories above. Each category will be weighted based on the percentages noted.
Powerschool
Grades will be posted on PowerSchool. Please make sure you have access to Powerschool and are reviewing your student’s grades.
Late assignments
It is expected that late assignments will be turned in in a reasonable amount of time.

We will review a science safety contract toward the beginning of the year to understand the importance of safety in the science classroom.
Safety in science class is a top priority! Students who violate our safety rules will be removed from the labs.
