Interdisciplinary STEM Projects
The North Harrison Community School Corporation partnered with 5-Star technology to incorporate the 5-E model of Project-Based Learning throughout all levels. The 5-E model of Project-Based Learning is a framework to guide students thru inquiry-based learning experiences in a structured, engaging, and student-centered manner. The 5 E’s are comprised of Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate. This model enables North Harrison High School to provide the desired collaborative learning environment that encourages each student to realize their fullest academic and social potential in a technologically evolving society as stated in our School Mission.
Computer Science Implementation
The North Harrison Community School Corporation has made the implementation of Computer Science a priority. North Harrison High School has led the way with this initiative. We started by establishing our goals for our curriculum and desired skills. The initial goal was to expose our students to the basic levels of coding, algorithms, and software development.
STEM Instructional Feedback
The NHCS Administrative team in conjunction with the NHCS Teachers Association incorporated the 5E model into the NH Rise Evaluation Tool in order to enhance their evaluation process by providing documentation of a structured approach to assessing effective teaching practices, particularly in promoting student engagement and active learning. The teachers at North Harrison High School are regularly provided with STEM Instructional Feedback through a locally created STEM walkthrough tracker.
Technology Tools
The students at North Harrison High School have access to wide variety of Technology Tools. The integration of these technologies across the curriculum aligns with our Mission and Vision for each student to realize their fullest academic and social potential in a technologically evolving society.
