I’m so excited to welcome you to our school family this year! I can’t wait to meet you and start our adventure together in first grade. We’re going to have so much fun learning, growing, and making wonderful memories!
To help you get to know me a little before we meet, let me tell you a few things about myself. I’ve lived in six different states (Hawaii, New Hampshire, Virginia, Michigan, Texas, and New York) —and even on an island called Guam! My family and I now live in Durhamville. My husband and I have two wonderful kids named Sean and Meghan, and we also have a sweet dog named Annie. At school, we have a special class pet—Winifred the turtle! She lives in our classroom during the school year and absolutely loves being around kids. I think you’ll really enjoy getting to know her, too!
I’ve been a teacher since 2004. I started by helping fourth graders with reading and math at Perry Browne Intermediate School in Norwich, NY. In 2005, I began teaching 4th grade here at E.R. Hughes Elementary School in New Hartford. In 2019, I made the exciting move to first grade—and I’ve loved every minute of it!
Just like you, I have hobbies that I enjoy when I’m not at school. I love reading and crocheting. One of my favorite ways to relax is to curl up with a good book, a cozy blanket, my crochet project, and a cup of coffee. I also love spending time outside—especially in the summer when my family visits our relatives in Tennessee. We swim, explore, and enjoy time with loved ones—it’s always a highlight of my year! I also really enjoy working with technology and often help other teachers with their computers and gadgets.
I hope you enjoyed learning a little about me! I am really looking forward to getting to know you and all the wonderful things that make you special. I know this is going to be an amazing year filled with learning, laughter, and lots of new experiences. I can’t wait to see all that you will accomplish!
Big Smiles from your teacher,
Mrs. Wagner
