Hello!  My name is Kelly Paul, and I am thrilled to teach 8th-grade English at New Hartford Central School.  This is my 32nd year of teaching, and I absolutely love what I do. It truly is a privilege and honor to work with New Hartford families and community members.  

I am originally from Sherrill, NY; I graduated from VVS (I was Kelly Burns long ago), and then SUNY Oswego. In 2007, our family moved to New Hartford so our daughters could be part of the Spartan community. Madelynn and Christina are both New Hartford graduates; Madelynn graduated in 2014 and Christina in 2017. In addition, Madelynn graduated from Boston College in 2018...GO EAGLES, Boston University Medical School...GO TERRIERS. She is currently a Neurology PA in Boston. Christina ALSO graduated from Boston University, GO TERRIERS...and does cancer research in Boston. Needless to say, Boston is one of my favorite places, as both girls now call it home.

With both girls gone, my full attention is on our four-year-old golden retriever, Khaleesi. She is a high-energy dog who loves attending sporting events and visiting with everyone. If you pet her or give her any attention, she will be your best friend. I hope you get to meet her someday!

As you might imagine, I love reading and talking about books. My favorite place is the library, and my idea of a perfect day is being curled up with a good book. The novels we read in class are some of my all-time favorites, and the fact that I get to reread them each year is one of the millions of reasons why I love teaching English. Reading The Diary of Anne Frank during COVID 19 was one of the most moving teaching experiences I have ever had. Never underestimate the power of the written word!

In closing, I look forward to a fabulous school year with you. Thank you, in advance, for your hard work and effort.  Together, we will make sure that 2023-2024 is wonderful!
