Guideline 2: A building administrator shall be assigned to fulfill the following responsibilities in supporting the professional development of the Candidate:
Assigns a school-based mentor in the same field as the candidate.
Assists the mentor in arranging conference and observation times, managing issues, and supporting the efforts of the mentor and the activities of the candidate.
Provides release time for the mentor to fulfill the mentor responsibilities.
Observes the Candidate per system requirements.
Provides release time to complete Field Experience and North Georgia RESA course/seminar requirements. (Some systems provide Professional Learning funds to cover a substitute; please check with your HR department to determine if funds are available.)
Serves on the Candidate Support Team, meeting at least three times during the school year (beginning of the school year to discuss expectations and program requirements, mid-year to discuss progress, share TKES report, and recommend further actions to support professional growth, and end of the school year to discuss progress, shares TKES report and recommend further actions to support professional growth).
Monitors Candidate’s progress of electronic portfolio development. Building administrator will report to CST on completion of portfolio at last meeting. If more guidance is necessary, the Candidate/CST should meet additional times implementing Individual Induction Plan.

Administrator Assurance Form
The candidate will provide you with the NGRESA GaTAPP Administrator Assurance Form. Please complete and return to the candidate for enrollment into the program.

Logs
Candidates complete various logs to track their progress in tasks that are required in the clinical teaching experience component of GaTAPP. Included are the Family Contact Log (Appendix 8), School and District Contribution Log (Appendix 9), and Professional Learning Log (Appendix 6). The candidate will request your guidance and signatures on each log.
The administrator assists the mentor in arranging conference and observation times, managing issues, and supporting the efforts of the mentor and the activities of the candidate. The administrator provides release time for the mentor to fulfill the mentor's responsibilities.
Field Experience Information
Teacher candidates participate in Field Experience observations according to the requirements listed in Appendix 12. The purpose of this component is to allow candidates to observe expert teachers as they conduct their classes and to reflect on their observations. These field experiences should be divided equally during the first two semesters. Administrators are asked to facilitate covering the candidate’s classes during the times of the observations. The documentation required is found in Appendix 12.

Employer Satisfaction Survey
Candidates will be required to complete an electronic program evaluation form. Administrators from the school system will be asked to complete an evaluation of the effectiveness of the North Georgia RESA GaTAPP program in the preparation of teacher candidates. Data from these evaluations will be used to track candidate progress and to enhance program modifications for the EPP.

Candidate Support Team (CST)
A Candidate Support Team made up of the candidate, a school-based administrator, a school-based mentor/coach, and a North Georgia RESA GaTAPP Supervisor to ensure a reasonable expectation of initial success in the classrooms. A content area expert is required and will be added to the CST if needed. CST Minutes will be recorded by the supervisor at every CST Meeting (Appendix 11).

Individual Induction Plan
All teacher candidates are required to work collaboratively with the CST to develop a Teacher Candidate Induction Plan. This plan should be data-driven and used to improve candidate performance in areas of need. Data sources for the creation of the plan may include but are not limited to self-assessment results, observation data, and GACE results, dispositions, assessments from Essentials Course. Development of the Teacher Candidate Induction Plan should begin during the first CST meeting, with all team members contributing to the initial preparation. The teacher candidate and RESA supervisor should work with the mentor teacher to complete the plan for submission. The initial plan is to be completed no later than September 15th.
The Individual Induction Plan should be considered a living document. Progress should be discussed at each
CST meeting with revisions documented as needed. Progress should be considered an ongoing pursuit (Appendix 10).

Dispositions
All teacher candidates will be assessed by the GaTAPP program coordinator, the RESA supervisor, and the
Candidate Support Team at the beginning of the year, mid-year and end of the year for each year of the
program. North Georgia RESA Support Team Evaluation of Candidate Dispositions will be used as the
evaluation instrument for candidate dispositions. This rubric will be used to discuss goals and track the
candidate’s progress at each CST Meeting. A candidate who repeatedly exhibits dispositions that are not
appropriate for those of an educator will be dismissed from the program (Appendix 2).

Final CST
In addition to Appendices 2, 10, and 11, the final CST also includes Appendix 19, Appendix 14, and Appendix 16. The candidate's portfolio must be completed prior to the Final CST.
