FFA Contests

Leadership Development Events

Nebraska FFA’s Leadership Development Events (LDEs) are designed to help members prepare for careers in agriculture. Classroom instruction comes to life as students compete and showcase their skills in public speaking, parliamentary procedure, and demonstration.

FFA members compete at district-level LDEs to qualify for competition at the State FFA Convention in the spring. Each District may qualify three students/teams per event. Contact your district’s FFA Board Representative for district-level event questions.

Career Development Events

Nebraska hosts 25 CDEs, covering the technical knowledge and skill areas related to the agriculture, food, and natural resources career field. Students in agricultural education compete in a variety of events that sharpen their skills as they explore and experience careers in agriculture. CDEs occur alongside the Nebraska FFA Convention in early spring on UNL's East Campus, at Southeast Community College in Lincoln, and at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
