Learners will connect with the Central Idea ‘Food comes from many places and goes through many changes’. Learners will explore the work of different artists that have used food as a theme and inspiration for their artwork.
Learners will connect with the Central Idea ‘Journeys help us explore’. Learners will create and decorate their own personal suitcase (shoe box or bag) to collect their art materials and useful recycling resources for the term. We will look at art from different cultures and countries as we take you on a world wide journey of fun and exploration!

Learners will connect with the Central Idea. ‘Celebrations are a form of expression’. Learners will explore the use of motifs in celebrations and art and design, working towards designing their own personal motif.
Learners will connect with the Central Idea ‘The home environment is a great source of creative inspiration.' Using the elements of line, shape and colour, they will create an abstract artwork inspired by the home and/or garden.

Learners will connect with the Central Idea ‘The form of the land changes.’ Using the medium of watercolour, they will be learning to take inspiration from their natural environment and photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand to create artworks using the elements of line, form and shape.

Learners will connect with the Central Idea ‘Personal inspirations are used to design symbols to communicate meaning.’ Using the medium of oil pastel, they will be learning to design a two-coloured stencil.
Learners will connect to their Unit of Inquiry ‘ People can promote awareness through creative action'. They will research ‘Artivism’ in their groups and create an Artwork individually to create social awareness on their chosen topic.
The Year 6 learners who have chosen an area of the visual arts as their focus for their PYP Expedition will connect with the Central Idea ‘ Individuals grow by challenging personal limits’. Learners will explore and develop their ideas and skills in their chosen medium through continuous consultation and reflection, in order to work towards their individual goals.
