To help them develop awareness of how they are being treated
Asking our children relationship focused questions help them to tune into their bodies to notice the sensations they are having in particular friendships and relationships.
Here are 5 questions for you to use:
What does this friend do that makes you feel celebrated? understood? supported?
When you are with this person what things do you feel and think about yourself?
What does this friend do that inspires you?
Does this person brings you more joy or less joy than you had in your life before you became close to them?
Is this person accepting or demeaning when you are vulnerable?
Do you ever feel scared that this friend will punish or hurt you on purpose?
What have you learned about life from this friend/friendship?
If you have any concerns about your child's socio-emotional wellbeing in school, please get in touch with your child's year group leader to start a conversation.
