This week's celebrations of Chinese New Year have been spectacular, informative and inclusive. The Secondary assembly on Wednesday was a wonderful occasion with the vast majority of learners participating in songs and performances and presentations to share Chinese culture and traditions. On Thursday Secondary learners ran some really innovative stalls to engage younger learners in games and creative activities. The Lion Dance on Thursday afternoon was a wonderful way to celebrate as a whole school and it was good to see so many parents in attendance. Please see more photographs of our celebrations here.
Now that the ACSIS Sport Season 2 is over, we can happily reflect on another set of excellent performances from all of our sports teams. There are some lovely reports and photographs to be seen on the Sports page, and some teams have really scaled the heights of sporting achievement in Singapore.
Last weekend's Middle School ACSIS Swim Meet was a marvellous celebration of the sport. A genuine community event, teachers and parents were present from 6am to welcome visitors from across Singapore, get the barbecue lit and make final preparations at the poolside. Hosting so many competitors and their parents for so many hours is no mean feat and the feedback from visiting parents was full of the highest praise. Many congratulations to the Swim Coaches and indeed the entire Health and Physical Education Team for once again leading and organising an event of such scale to a very high standard.
On a less cheerful note, some scooters have been going missing in school and, even though they often re-appear after a few days, it is very annoying for the rightful owners. Please make sure your child has the correct scooter when they travel home. We also recommend that all scooters are named and have security labels or tags. We have increased our camera coverage around the scooter parking areas to try to eradicate this issue.
Enjoy the week long break, and to the Chinese members of our community, we wish you wealth and prosperity as we move into the Year of the Pig. Gōng xǐ fā cái!
