About the NPG:

One of our School’s unique pillars is what many parents and staff describe as a special community spirit.

The NPG serves two purposes within this community - to provide parents with a platform through which to start conversations with, and provide feedback, to the School – to be “a voice of the School community”, and to provide a range of great social, cultural and special interest events. We welcome all volunteers to join our vibrant and diverse committee, with the main aim of maintaining an inclusive NPG where all ideas are considered valuable.

New Committee Members:

I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome two new members to the Committee, Ms Judy Anzai (who will act as the voice on the NPG representing our Korean families) and Ms Manisha Rayarel.

The full Committee of 13 now consists of members from ten nations over six continents, highlighting the diversity of our rich and tight-knit multicultural community.

Committee members are accessible and approachable, and are recognisable by virtue of their security passes. Furthermore, we are soon to display a photo-board in the NPG notices window (back wall of Pod C). So, we are easy to find!

Friday, 26 October, NPG Parents Night Out: McGettigan’s Irish Bar, Clarke Quay

Over 75 members of the Nexus community enjoyed a fabulous night out, relaxing, making new friends and dancing the night away to Band on the Run’s 10.seconds at McGettigan’s, Clarke Quay. A very positive start to the NPG’s major social events’ calendar. Photos of the evening are on Facebook.

We have numerous informative coffee morning seminars coming up, including two this month, so please head over to Facebook for more information. The events are on: November 8, November 12, December 4. Term 3’s coffee morning seminar calendar is taking great shape too.

Christmas Fair:

Initial planning is going really well and to all parents that have kindly offered to volunteer on the day, we have not forgotten you. NPG Vice President (Events) Tanu Shukla will be in touch shortly as needs and roles begin to emerge more clearly. It is going to be massive and yet another successful Christmas Fair. Watch this space and keep a close eye on Facebook.

Nexus Aljunied – School of the Future:

The NPG would like to extend its thanks and support to the Senior Leadership Team for a fantastic and exciting overview of the new school in Aljunied (http://aljunied.nexus.edu.sg/) on Tuesday night. We encourage all parents to take a day out one weekend to explore the East and all it has to offer. Three Committee members (myself, Monica de Waal and Simone Falcao) are eastern suburbs residents and happy to discuss the East with you. The new school is going to be an industry leader in South East Asia in so many ways and we are very excited to be involved in this fabulous period of Nexus’ early history.

A very happy Deepavali for next week to our many Hindu families and friends. Light will always triumph over darkness and that is a sentiment we must all keep close to our hearts with the forces at play around the world at the moment.

Warmest wishes,

Simon Hyett, President: Nexus Parent Group
