Events of this week have been a real challenge but everyone has responded magnificently and we have been struck by the togetherness of our community. Learners responded well to information-sharing assemblies and Ms Bianca, our counsellor, was on hand to talk with anyone affected, as well as tutors and other staff.
We have investigated the incident extensively and are confident that we have got to the bottom of what happened. To the best of our knowledge, following expert checks, the videos have not been shared digitally. As we go forward we have already implemented regular checks to our current changing rooms and will review our procedures in light of the new accommodation at Aljunied. As a side part of the investigation we have seen the need for improved digital security amongst some of our learners. Although online safety is taught explicitly at school we see a need for reinforcement of that message to keep everyone safe online in an ever-changing world.
Last week's Year 12 trip to Cambodia was simply outstanding in all respects. The learners worked hard and learned so much as they gave deeply of themselves to work with the local community to build various amenities. You can read more here.
The Sneak Peek Preview Event and the various tours of Aljunied that have happened this week have given a small glimpse of what is to come. Amongst all the exciting chatter I was struck by the reaction of two of our delightful Year 10 girls who were moved to tears by the whole experience! An enormous furniture order arrives next week and the Moving Plans are ready to be activated at the end of term.
We wish the Sports Team every success as they escort some of our boys and girls to the British International School of Phuket this weekend to participate in their prestigious annual soccer tournament! We also look forward to hosting the ACSIS Middle School Swim Meet at Ulu Pandan tomorrow - 400 competitors are expected, arriving from 6am; good luck to all our swimmers and thanks to the many staff supporting.
I wish you all a restful weekend.
Peter Hart, Head of Secondary
At long last we were able to open the doors of our new school for a sneak peek inside. Our new school is fantastic and it was a magical occasion to share with our learners, families and staff.
Over the next two months we will complete all the final fittings, furniture deliveries and move to have it ready for you. We look forward to seeing you all in our new home in January.
During Diversity Week all of our learners across Primary and Secondary had the opportunity to paint their own pebble as part of an on-going community artwork that we will be displaying in our new campus. Each pebble is as unique as each individual who designed it and the resulting pebble artwork represents the rich diversity of our community.
This week all employees and the Board of Directors had the opportunity to contribute their creativity to further expand our growing work. Next year we will also be inviting parents and guardians to join us in painting a pebble, once we have settled into our new home.
An extra special thank you goes to our fabulous Art team for their support.
