Green Innovation Week
As you would be aware this week was Innovation Week. We have had a range of activities for our learners to attend and take part in e.g. Power Ninjas and Sustainability Talks. One of the favourite activities of the week was the Lego Duck challenge.
The focus was on creativity and original ideas. Every learner received a small pack of yellow and red Lego and were invited to make a duck. We challenged ourselves to see how many different original variations of duck we could make - as you can see from the pictures below the answer is a lot. We can all be innovators!
We had some wonderful Trashion hats on display today. Thank you for the support you've given at home to enable these wonderful creations. We even had a watermelon hat - up-cycled and biodegradable!
Last week Nexus hosted the Singapore round of the World Scholar's Cup competition, and our learners truly excelled in this celebration of learning and alpacas (if you know, you know).
Our learners participated in the debate, creative writing and a bowl event where they had to work together to answer questions on this year's theme of "reconstructing the past". The ability to work as a team, apply knowledge and find creative ways to express ideas was key to success, and the Nexus participants really outdid themselves.
We are incredibly proud of our Nexus learners for their outstanding achievements in this year's World Scholar's Cup. Their success is a testament to their exceptional talent, intellect, and the support that they received from their teachers and parents. We hope to see even more members of the Nexus community contribute to this event when it returns next year.
Our Musical Maestro series continues each Friday morning before school at the Eco Cafe. This week Y8 was represented with a couple of pianists and it was lovely to have some impromptu singing along.
Musical Maestros is an informal setting that provides our learners with a different type of performing platform. There is less pressure, no audience stood right in front of you and is a good starting point for those interested in taking the stage.
Please email music@nexus.edu.sg if you would like any further information.
