First, my huge thanks to all staff, parents and learners involved in helping us celebrate Deepavali along with our Hindi families last week.
Particular thanks to our Year 9 drummers, Nanda (Year 11) and our Year 3 dancers, as well as Sharanya and Kabir for introducing our Kindergarten to Year 2 Assembly and to Avni and Nikil for performing a traditional contemporary fusion dance at our Year 3 to 6 assembly. For photos, please go to the 'Recent Events' section or visit our Facebook page.
In addition, our thanks to Hasita, Charlotte and Caitlin for encouraging us all to dress in traditional Indian clothes and raise money for our migrant workers. The girls recently interviewed Nicolette, from the CoVid Migrant Support Coalition about the work that they do. Watch out for the video and details of how much we raised coming soon!
If you haven't yet taken the chance to enjoy our recent Primary School Instrumental Recitals, do go to the 'Arts' section to watch the videos of our wonderful performers. While you are there, why not sign up for our Nexus Christmas Family Choir and join over 100 families who have already signed up to come together through singing. And of course, browse the news from our Year Groups to see the deep learning your children are undertaking through the exploration of cultures, migration, lifestyles, creativity and scientific inquiry, to name just a few. Included is a short article about the powerful Teacher Professional Learning Day last week, as we reflected on our successes and looked towards embedding and enhancing the Nexus PYP even further.
In our 'Important Notices' section, please read about the Junior Achievement initiative. We hope many of our families have a couple of old unwanted pieces of Nexus uniform that they would be keen to donate to this fantastic cause. Next week is Bug Busting. Please take a look at the 'Upcoming Events' section for an update on our Bug Busting Logo and Poster Competition and a reminder on how to carry out bug busting management next week.
Finally, as the end of the semester approaches, we will be saying farewell to a few of our families as they relocate or return to their home countries. If your family is leaving us, please may I ask that you complete a Withdrawal Form at your earliest convenience. The Withdrawal Form can be found on the Parent Portal or by clicking here. Unfortunately, one of our staff and her family will be leaving us today. Ms Belinda, from our Primary HPE team, will be relocating back to Australia. Ms Belinda has been a positive and high-energy member of our team and we will miss her greatly. We wish her and her family all the best in their next adventure.
Wishing you all a relaxing weekend.
Best regards
Paul Beach
