If you are experiencing thoughts of suicide, self-harm, or harming others, or you are in a mental health emergency: Stop using Talk and seek help immediately. Contact your local emergency number, go to the nearest emergency room, or reach a qualified mental health professional. In the United States, you can dial 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Talk is not an emergency service and cannot help in a crisis.
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you and Talk Journaling app ("we," "us," "our"), governing your access to and use of Talk Journal (the "App"). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll make reasonable efforts to notify you before they take effect; continued use of the App after that point means you accept the revised Terms.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Talk. If you are a minor in the jurisdiction where you live, you may only use Talk with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian, where local law requires it. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement and that any information you provide is accurate.
Talk lets you record voice journal entries, which are transcribed to text, tagged with a mood, and optionally enriched with additional media and AI-powered features. The App operates on a freemium model:
Free tier includes:
Voice recording up to 5 minutes per entry
Automatic transcription and mood tagging
Access to recent journal history
Talk Premium includes:
Voice recording up to 15 minutes per entry
Full unlimited journal history
Image and video attachments on entries
AI summaries ("Summarise with AI") and mood insights
Secure cloud backup
Talk is a personal journaling and reflection tool. It is not a medical device, and it does not provide medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice, diagnosis, treatment, or crisis intervention. It is not designed or intended to be used as a substitute for care from a licensed healthcare or mental health professional, and it is not built to handle data the way a regulated healthcare service would (for example, it is not intended for use in a way that would make it subject to HIPAA or similar healthcare-specific regulations). AI-generated summaries and insights reflect an automated interpretation of what you recorded or typed, are intended for personal reflection only, and should not be relied on as professional advice.
When you record a journal entry, your audio is processed to generate a text transcript, using a third-party speech-to-text provider.
Free users may record up to 5 minutes per entry. Talk Premium subscribers may record up to 15 minutes per entry. The recording timer displays the applicable limit for your plan.
Talk Premium subscribers may attach images or short video clips to journal entries. The audio track of an attached video may also be processed for transcription in the same way as a voice recording.
Your original audio and video recordings, and any images you attach, are kept so you can play them back in the App, until you delete that entry or all of your data.
Transcription is automated and may misinterpret what you said, especially with background noise, accents, or unclear speech. Review your transcript before relying on it.
You're responsible for the content of your recordings and attachments, including making sure you have the right to record or photograph any other person you reference, consistent with recording-consent and privacy laws that may apply where you are.
Talk's "Summarise with AI" feature and mood/pattern insights are generated by automated systems, not by a human reviewer. These outputs:
Are an automated interpretation of your entries and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or fail to capture nuance, context, or sarcasm.
Are intended solely for your personal reflection — not as therapeutic, medical, legal, or financial advice.
Should not be used as the basis for decisions about your health or safety. If something an AI summary suggests concerns you, please speak with a qualified professional rather than relying on the App.
Voice recordings, video, and images attached to journal entries can reveal sensitive personal information — about your mental or emotional state, relationships, health, appearance, or other private matters — simply because of what you choose to record or attach. We process this content as described in our Privacy Policy (including sending audio to speech-to-text providers, and text to AI providers for summaries), but we don't independently review, moderate, or analyze your entries or media beyond what's needed to provide those features. Please use your own judgment about what you choose to record or attach.
If account creation becomes required for certain features (for example, cross-device sync), you're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for activity under your account.
You own the content you create in Talk — your recordings, transcripts, images, videos, and entries ("User Content"). We make no claim of ownership over it, and we do not request any license to publish, distribute, or otherwise use your User Content beyond what's needed to provide the Service to you.
By using the App, you grant us a limited license to process your User Content — including sending audio to speech-to-text providers, text to AI providers, and storing media attachments on cloud infrastructure — solely to provide and improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not use your User Content to train our own AI models, and our AI providers are contractually restricted from doing so where commercially available.
You can permanently delete a single entry or all of your data at any time via Settings.
Talk offers a free tier and a Talk Premium subscription with additional features as described in Section 3.
Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed through our subscription provider, RevenueCat, in accordance with their respective terms. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings.
Free trials, where offered, convert automatically into a paid subscription unless cancelled before the trial ends.
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own refund policies; we do not directly process payments or issue refunds.
If your Premium subscription lapses, access to Premium features (extended recording, full history, image and video attachments, AI summaries) will revert to free-tier limits. Your existing entries and data are not deleted — history older than the free-tier limit will be locked until Premium is restored.
You agree not to:
Use the App for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that would violate the rights of others.
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the App's underlying models or source code.
Use the App to harass, abuse, or harm others, or to record or photograph others without consent where consent is legally required.
Attach content that is illegal, obscene, or infringes the intellectual property rights of others.
Use automated means (bots, scripts) to access the App.

The App itself — its design, branding, and underlying software (excluding your User Content) — is owned by Talk Journaling app and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the App without our permission.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the App and permanently delete your data at any time via "Delete All Data" in Settings.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the App — including AI-generated transcripts or summaries — will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted, or error-free.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Talk Journaling app will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including reliance on AI-generated content.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Armenia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Nothing here limits any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have under the laws of your own country of residence.
