Woodberry Down

Leadership Team

September 2023

We are delighted to be sharing with you some important information about school leaders here at Woodberry Down.  Whilst we would always advise you to speak firstly with your child's classteacher in the case of any questions or queries, there may be times when you wish to speak with a member of the leadership team.  Please see the information below for future reference.

Ms Nicole Reid

Executive Headteacher

I am sure that you will agree that Woodberry Down is a very special place where our children flourish.  There is nothing quite like the return to school after the summer break.  The children are excited and ambitious for the year ahead;  let's give them everything that they deserve!

We are certain that this academic year is set to be full of fun and excitement along with hard work and determination.  At Woodberry Down the children consistently try their best and we are always so proud of them and their achievements.

Our values of responsibility, focus, kindness, collaboration and creativity are reflected across our community and we are sure that you will support us in ensuring our children display these in everything that they do.

Mr Derek Hewie

Headteacher

It is a privilege to be have worked at Woodberry Down over the last 8 years, having joined the school as the headteacher in September 2015.  I am very happy to continue to serve the wonderful community at Woodberry Down.

There is no doubt that this is a very special place where everyone is valued and respected.  I would like to wish those joining the school a very warm welcome.  To those families returning to us after the summer break, I hope that you have rested well and that you are looking forward to the year ahead.

This year we aim to reach even higher, ensuring all of our children receive nothing but the best education and enrichment opportunities we can offer.

Deputy Headteacher

I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year at Woodberry Down Primary School.  Both the children and staff have returned to school full of enthusiasm for the year ahead.  I look forward to seeing all the children flourish over the coming terms.

This year, I will be working with staff in ensuring our engaging curriculum supports the needs of all the learners across Woodberry Down, allowing them to reach their full potential. Please feel free to approach me with any queries you have.

I am looking forward to another inspiring year at Woodberry Down Primary School.  The children have returned with positive energy and I cannot wait to see all the achievements and successes they accomplish.

This year I will continue to support teachers to deliver an exciting and inspiring curriculum that allows children to reach their full potential.  As maths leader I will be particularly focused on raising the profile of mathematics and ensuring all children have a love of all things maths related.

Woodberry Down is an exciting place to work and I am very much looking forward to the year ahead. The children consistently challenge and motivate us to deliver the very best and I will always welcome the opportunity to continue to do this.

This year I will be working to support KS2 teachers as well as ensuring that our wider curriculum continues to inspire our pupils.  If your child is in Year 4, Year 5 or Year 6, please do approach me with any questions or queries.  I am also available to support with any secondary school application queries.

Assistant Headteacher

Inclusion Leader

Mr Shayne Davids

Thank you to the Woodberry Down Community for the support and encouragement last year. I took great pleasure in meeting and working with you to help support your children's learning, and can't wait to get started again.

This academic year, I will be the school lead for Inclusion. This role primarily encompasses supporting the provision of our pupils with special educational needs, disabilities and medical conditions. I am always available to support our families with any matters related to special educational needs.

Assistant Headteacher

Nursery & Reception

Mrs Joanna Ichim

Having worked across New Wave Federation schools for many years, I have been delighted to have been working within the EYFS at Woodberry Down this year.

The children at the school are incredible and their thirst for learning is sensational.  You should be very proud of your children. Alongside Miss Williams and Miss Dickinson, I work to continue to improve the provision in this area of the school.  I work at the school on Mondays and Thursdays.  Please do arrange to speak to me through the office if you have any questions for me.
