Message from Mrs Beecroft

Dear Grazebrook families

I hope you all had a very enjoyable bank holiday weekend. To those in our community who celebrated the end of Ramadan, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you Eid Mubarak!

We have had an excellent start to the summer term at Grazebrook. The children have been enjoying their new geography and science topics and being able to take their learning outside in subjects such as maths as well as PE. We have seen some really impressive writing from children across the school inspired by their new class books. It has been an absolute pleasure seeing so many of you at our weekly events: Come Learn With Me, Sharing Assemblies, Come Dine With Me, Workout Wednesdays and Nursery Family Fridays. Your continued support and impressive crafting skills has been greatly appreciated by the staff.

The week beginning May 9th sees the start of our statutory assessments for pupils when pupils in Year 6 will sit their SATs examinations. The results of these are used to help the government understand how well children across the country are doing and, for our Year 6 pupils, they will help with their transition to secondary school. Year 2 will also sit SATs later this half term which form part of their assessments for the end of Key Stage 1. In June, Year 4 sit their Multiplication Times Table Check and Year 1 take their Phonics Screening Check. Information sessions for families of children in these year groups will be held later this half term.

We have booked Finsbury Park for our Year 1 to 6 sports day on Wednesday 15th June and are looking forward to being able to welcome families back to watch the event. We are also once again holding an EYFS and KS1 end of year celebration and KS2 trip to Joss Bay. These will take place on Friday 15th July. Events such as these and our annual pantomime trip are heavily subsidised by the PSA, which is currently busy organising a family film night and the summer fair. If you are interested in helping with the organisation and running of these events, please get in touch with the PSA via their website link here.

I'll also have responsibility for maths and science, where we have some very exciting things planned. If you have any questions for me, please talk to me at the gate or leave a message/send an email via the school office.
