Dear Grazebrook Families

It has been a truly glorious end to the academic year. Thank you so much to everyone who was able to join us and support the children at our Summer Celebration, the Early Years’ Sports Days and our lovely Nursery Graduation. Across all of these events, the children beautifully demonstrated our core values, showing creativity, focus, kindness, and collaboration, whilst being responsible, proud members of our school and wider community.

A huge, heartfelt thank you must also go to our PSA Committee, as well as all of our PSA members and volunteers, for putting on another spectacular Summer Fair and Raffle. Your dedication and hard work make a world of difference to our school and community and we truly value your support. If you would like to find out more about the work of the PSA and our fundraising goals for next year, please join us on Friday 18th September at 9am for the first meeting of the next academic year. 

Yesterday, the children in Reception through to Year 5 spent a wonderful morning getting to know their new classes and teachers. While there were a few natural nerves beforehand, the school was buzzing with excitement as the children dived into a range of fun transition activities.

Messages containing your child’s new class and teacher were sent out yesterday. If you have not received this information, please contact the school office so we can update you. At the start of September, you will be able to attend a 'Meet the Teacher' session and learn more about the class and curriculum. The sessions will take place in your child’s new classroom or partner classroom on: 

• Monday 7th September at 3.45pm: Year 5 and Year 6

• Tuesday 8th September at 12.30pm: Reception 

• Wednesday 9th September at 3.45pm: Year 1 and Year 2

• Thursday 10th September at 3.45pm: Year 3 and Year 4 

If your child is in Nursery to Year 5, you should also now have received your child's end of year report. If you have had any issues accessing this, please let our office know as soon as possible and they will ensure you receive a copy. If you wish to discuss any aspect of the report, please speak with your child's class teacher at the end of the school today week or contact the office to book a meeting or phone call. 

This week, our hearts are full as we prepare to say goodbye to our wonderful Year 6 cohort. They have been a fantastic year group and while we are incredibly sad to see them go, we are so proud of the responsible, kind and capable young people they have become. We know they are ready to fly as they take their next big steps into secondary school. Before they go, we have a brilliant week of celebrations to look forward to! The Year 6 children have been working tirelessly on their end-of-year musical showcase, 'Shrektacular'. Yesterday, our EYFS and KS1 children were lucky enough to get a special sneak peek of the performance, and the feedback was filled with rave reviews! Today, KS2 have had their turn to watch the final dress rehearsal before we welcome our Year 6 families to the show at 2pm. On Wednesday we will be holding our official Year 6 Graduation ceremony. This will be a beautiful opportunity for us to look back on their primary school journey, celebrate their achievements, and wish them well for the future.

We wish Mr Karageorgiou all the best in his move back to Australia and thank him for all that he has done for Grazebrook in the time he has been here. We would also like to say a fond farewell to Mrs Cabey as she is moving to our sister school, Woodberry Down. Mrs Cabey has been a huge champion of Science and our Eco-council and we are sure you will join us in thanking her for all she has done for our school community. 

A reminder that the school will close to pupils at 1pm this Friday, 17th July. Gates will be open from 12.55pm. Please support the staff by collecting your child/children promptly from classrooms on that day. The first day of the Autumn term for pupils is Thursday 3rd September with gates opening from 8.45am and children going into classes at 8.55am. Breakfast Club and Our Space will also begin on this date. Year 1 to 6 After School Clubs begin on Monday 14th September. Club information will be shared during the week beginning Monday 7th September. School uniform expectations can be found on our website in the parents section. Pre-loved uniform items are also available via the school office and at PSA events.
