Grazebrook Primary School Bulletin

1st July 2025
Dear Grazebrook Families
As we enjoy this spell of warm and sunny weather, it's been wonderful to see the school community embracing the summer spirit. Our recent Sports Days were a fantastic success – full of energy, team spirit and smiling faces. A big thank you to everyone who came along to support!
We are now looking forward to our much-anticipated PSA Summer Fair on Saturday 5th July from 12-3pm. It promises to be a great day of fun, fundraising and community celebration – we hope to see many of you there!
With the sunshine set to continue for much of the next fortnight, please remember to send your child to school wearing light clothes (or PE kit), sun cream, a sun hat or cap and a named refillable water bottle each day. We will continue to encourage children to stay well hydrated, take breaks in the shade during lunchtime and we will be reducing the intensity of afternoon activities during the hotter parts of the day. However, please do remember to check the weather report each day, as it looks like we will have some well needed rain later this week.
As we near the end of the summer term, many of you have been asking about end of year arrangements. End of Year reports will be ready to collect from class teachers or After School Clubs/Extended Day Care on Tuesday 15th July. Reports contain: a summary of learning; teacher assessment data; attendance percentages and the results of statutory assessments. These are: the Phonics Screening Check for Year 1 pupils, the Multiplication Tables Check for Year 4 pupils and SATs results for Year 6 pupils. If you require a copy of the report to be available for collection by a co-parent or if one parent lives outside of London and requires an email copy, please let the school office know and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
If you have any queries regarding your child's report once you have collected and read it, there will be an opportunity to meet with your child's class teacher after school on Wednesday 16th or Thursday 17th July. Appointments will be bookable via the school office or through your child's teacher at pick up.
On Monday 21st July, the children in Reception to Year 5 will take part in their Moving Up Morning and spend time in their new class with their new teacher. You will be informed of the name of your child's teacher and class on Friday 18th July. Transition arrangements have begun across the school, so that the children are well prepared for the move into their new year group. If you have any specific questions, please speak to your child's class teacher.

Our KS1 and KS2 Sports Day at Finsbury Park earlier this half term was a brilliant celebration of athleticism, teamwork and community spirit. Children took part in a range of track and field events, proudly demonstrating the sprinting, throwing, and jumping skills they’ve been developing throughout the first half of the summer term.
A real highlight of the day was seeing the entire school come together for the relays, along with the much-loved staff and family races! A huge thank you to the families who volunteered, and to the New Wave coaches — especially our very own Coach Hassan — for organising such a fantastic event. It was a joy to see our school community united in celebrating sport and enjoying time together. Thank you to all our children, staff, and families for making it such a memorable day! Thank you also to Simon Roberts for your fabulous photos.
Our Nursery and Reception children had a fantastic time at their Sports Days in Clissold Park! The children showed off their speed, agility and brilliant teamwork as they took part in a variety of fun activities including the sack race. It was wonderful to see so many smiles as families and school staff joined in to cheer the children on and enjoy the day together. A big thank you to Coach Hassan, the EYFS team, and our amazing Year 6 helpers for organising such a special event – it was a day to remember!
Our youngest and oldest children have been busy preparing for their end of year performances, shows and graduations. It's hard to believe that so many of our Year 6 children were once standing in the place of our Nursery children, getting ready for the start of their journey into the 'big school'. We wish our Year 6's all the best with their transition taster days at their new school and can't wait to hear all about it!
Reception children took part in exciting safe scooting workshops run by Hackney Council, where they learnt how to scoot safely and confidently. The sessions helped to extend their road safety knowledge in a fun and practical way. Well done to all the children for listening so carefully and showing great awareness while out and about!
As part of their history learning, 2B experienced life as a Victorian schoolchild by visiting the Ragged School museum. They took part in a traditional Victorian lesson, led by the fearsome Miss Perkins. We can't wait to hear all about 2G's visit later this term.
Year 5 have been making the most of our wellbeing garden and school grounds, taking their science learning outside to take cuttings and then observing them grow. The children loved having our expert gardener, Ms Jean, lead the sessions.
We have been continuing with our 'Know Yourself, Grow Yourself' self-esteem project led by Ms Correa. She is now working on creating a final piece of artwork which will go on display in the school next term.
In their final Reading Champion meeting, our ambassadors were awarded with a certificate for all of their hard work by Antoinette Bramble, the Deputy Mayor of Hackney. Ada, Zachary and Soraya spoke in front of everyone sharing all of the exciting work they have been doing to promote reading at Grazebrook and across Hackney primary schools. Their final task will be inducting our new reading champions and ambassadors ready for them to take up their role in September.
