The Science Core Curriculum project supports the adoption and implementation of the New Visions Biology and Earth and Space Science courses through curriculum-based professional learning experiences. Participants gain an understanding of how to use the instructional materials to support Multilingual Learners (MLLs), Students With Disabilities (SWDs), and to foster Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Education (CR-SE) as they transition to the New York State Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS).
More effective than traditional methods, our curriculum-based professional learning model, grounded in high-quality materials, fosters ongoing and active learning experiences for teachers. Emphasizing the curriculum enhances instructional approaches, aligning with the ambitious learning called for in the New York State Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS). The New Visions Core Curriculum Professional Learning Arc is accessible online, offering both in-person and virtual opportunities. Participants focus on using instructional routines, leveraging scientific phenomena, and implementing a storyline-driven curriculum to support diverse learners and meet NYSSLS goals.
