Hudson River Sloop Clearwater invites you to be a part of a unique experience this summer onboard the tall ship Clearwater. A replica of a 19th century Hudson River sailboat, the Clearwater acts as a floating environmental classroom and seeks to inspire lifelong love for the natural world and stewardship for the Hudson River. This year, we are offering three Youth Empowerment Programs: Young Women at the Helm, Young Men at the Helm and LGBTQ+ Youth at the Helm ("Queerwater"). These programs specifically seek to engage young people from throughout the Hudson Valley, from small towns to big cities, in discovering and developing new talents and abilities in an amazing, unconventional, unforgettable (and FREE!) experience! 

• Queerwater: July 19th--July 21st, pick up and drop off at Dyckman, camping in Alpine.

• Young Women at the Helm: August 2nd--August 4th, pick up and drop off in Poughkeepsie, Camping in Cold Spring and Beacon.

Sound Thinking NYC is a free program offered by the CUNY Creative Arts Team (CAT) and the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME), in partnership with NY is Music, a coalition of music industry leaders. Now in its sixth year, STNYC is part of a series of MOME initiatives designed to address the under-representation of women in the media and entertainment industries. All students interested in gender equity and inclusion in the music industry are welcomed and encouraged to apply.

Brooklyn Interns for Arts & Culture (BIAC) is a paid, one-year college, career, and life-readiness after school internship program that welcomes a cohort of 15 New York City high school students each year. During the program, BIAC Interns learn what it takes to have a career in arts management, get support with post-high school planning, and learn critical wellness practices to help them manage life's transitions while building community. BIAC empowers all participants to be their most authentic selves while contributing to the community around them and sharpening and vision, voice and power!

COMPENSATION

This is a paid opportunity. Students will receive stipends for Summer, Fall and Spring sessions.

Our year-long fellowship puts low-income students in NYC on a trajectory for success in college and careers, provides them with free access to technology, and creates a community of support.

First Tech Fund’s Fellowship program is a year-long program that puts low-income students in NYC on a trajectory for success in college and careers, provides them with free access to technology, and creates a community of support. 

As a First Tech Fund fellow, you will:

➝ Participate in a hybrid program with weekly, virtual workshops on Zoom on Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings and in-person events from September 2024 to May 2025

➝ Attend networking, professional development, and volunteer events with our corporate and community partners throughout the year. 

➝ Be eligible to receive free technology depending on your technology needs (laptop and/or WiFi hotspot). Upon successful completion of the fellowship program and attendance of 75% or more events, the laptop would be yours to keep.

The Karim Kharbouch Coding Fellowship is a 12-month program that starts with paid, virtual summer training and is followed by monthly career & college access workshops and coaching. Graduates receive support with obtaining internships and gaining access to college STEM programs. The Fellowship is free, and participants are given a stipend during summer instruction.

he State Pre-College Enrichment Program (S-PREP) is a free high school and college preparatory program designed for 7th - 12th grade students who are interested in pursuing a career in medicine or related STEM fields. The purpose of the program is to increase the number of historically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students prepared to enter college and improve their participation rate in mathematics, science, technology, health-related fields, and the licensed professions. S-PREP also known as Columbia STEP is offered by the Office of Student Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging and is a New York State Education Department- Science & Technology Entry Program (STEP).

S-PREP consists of two sessions (Summer and Academic Year).

• Summer Session: Classes are held Monday through Friday (10 am - 3 pm) in the month of July

• Academic Year: Classes are held on Saturdays (9 am - 3 pm) from October to May
