CS4CS is an introduction to the fundamentals of cybersecurity and computer science for high school students with any or no background experience in cybersecurity or computer programming. Throughout the program, students will learn from lessons focused on a spectrum of topics such as “white-hat” hacking, cryptography, steganography, digital forensics, privacy, data usage, and other issues relevant to the fast-growing cyber industry.

Collaborate with other teens to create a season of The New York Historical's teen podcast: Through Fresh Eyes. Hone your skills in script writing, recording, and editing as you research art and history. Have an opportunity to interview an artist or an expert on your topic and create your own podcast episode!

TECH360 is an intensive bootcamp that meets Monday through Thursday from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM. While most sessions are virtual, there are 2 required in-person sessions. Please note that you will only participate in 1 cycle and will select your preference in the TECH360 application.

Eligibility New York City youth who are ages 15-20 in summer 2025
Join a group of 10-12 young people who will explore making change in Youth Communication’s 46th annual summer writing workshop. You will participate in writing lessons, discussions, field trips, and group activities. You will write memoir-style and reported stories about making change.
The workshop will be held in person at our midtown office on West 38th Street, and runs July 7 through August 14, 2025. The workshop meets Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the six weeks, and in-person attendance is required.
Eligibility A current high school sophomore, junior, or senior; Interested in exploring technology and applying to college and/or STEM-focused programs, internships, or jobs.
The Karim Kharbouch Coding Fellowship is a 12-month program that starts with paid, virtual summer tech-intensive training followed by monthly career & college access workshops and coaching, and tech workshops that build on summer content. Fellows receive support securing internships, acceptances to work-based learning programs, and admission to college STEM programs. The Fellowship is free, and participants receive a stipend during summer instruction.
Eligibility Youth ages 12–18,
Each year, 100 youth from 6th through 12th grade participate in the Schomburg Center's Junior Scholars program. This tuition-free Saturday program (10 AM to 3 PM) during the academic year promotes historical literacy through college-style lectures and presentations, group discussions and activities, and project-based learning. Students generate individual research, original writing, art portfolios, and collaborative multimedia arts projects from their intensive study of the Center’s archives and resources.
Through this program, the Schomburg's Junior Scholars increase their historical literacy, expand their knowledge of who they are as intellectual, social, cultural and artistic beings, embrace their legacy as African-American citizens, and learn about the cultures of their prolific and trailblazing ancestors.
Teen Workshops are for high school students interested in learning more about the city’s built environment and developing their architectural design skills. Offered on weekends during the school year, these workshops combine architectural exploration with hands-on design projects, nurturing the development of design thinking and providing students with instruction in architecture fundamentals such as architectural drawing, scale measurement, model building, site and precedent analysis. Program has a fee but offers scholarships and fee waivers.

SAT is going digital - for good! That means you will do all the questions on a computer with a software - the format does change a lot! But don't panic! We are here for you!
This FREE summer program will start on July 8 and finish on August 5 - you are expected to commit 5 Tuesdays with us in these weeks. The classes will be on Tuesday from 1pm to 4pm. The program will be held at East Side Community High School. Metro cards are also provided!
The Behind the Videogames - Stats and Physics program is a brand new component of our STEM summer programs, and we are more than thrilled to welcome all NYC high school students to join us!
In this program, we will discover the academic parts behind some games - mostly from a gamer's perspective - and learn some exciting knowledge on statistics and physics throughout the games!
However, we also should note that you WILL NOT play games in this program - this program consists of 5 CLASSES that focus on the knowledge behind the games.
The program will take place at East Side Community High School (420 E 12th Street, Manhattan) from July 10 to August 7 on every Thursday from 1pm to 3pm.
The Intro to Calculus program aims to support the students who :
do not feel challenged enough in schools;
plan to study a Math-intensive major in colleges
Or hope to study in advance to better prepare for their calculus classes in future.
The classes will be held every Tuesday (10:30am to 12pm) AND Thursday (10:30am to 12:00pm) from July 10 to August 7 at East Side Community High School (420 E 12th Street, East Village).
