There will be a fundraising assembly to kickoff fundraising in September 2025.
It is NVCS’ version of a jogathon, where every kid gets a t-shirt and a racing bib! Students will have ~35 minutes to run/walk as many laps as they can. There will be music and encouragement along the way. After the race, each student will get a popsicle. The actual day of Hawk Walk is for student participation only but all families are welcome to come cheer on their kiddos on the day of the race! Hawk Walk is also PTO’s biggest fundraiser of the year! Students are encouraged to raise money from family, friends or neighbors. They get their own individual website to share and help track their fundraising dollars.
PTO hosts the Hawk Walk to raise funds for our organization which exists to financially support the educational experience for students and staff. Last year, we spent over $56,900 on supporting the NVCS faculty and staff. (PS if you are a participating parent in PTO, you get to help decide how the money is spent). Here are the different ways we help financially support students and staff:
1 – Teacher/Staff Requests – Teachers come to our meetings and present needs for their classrooms or grades. These are usually additional learning opportunities or incentives and include things like the Book Vending Machine, Hawk Walk mascot costume, cow eyes for dissection, transportation to field trips like the Denver Zoo or YMCA, CMAS incentives, Crest Store Incentives, Caterpillar kits, shirts for Battle of the Books and Spelling Bee, etc.
2 – Global School Requests – Administration submits one BIG request each year to PTO. Some of the items funded in the past include the Sound System in the staging area for concerts/plays, Tablets for testing, Headsets for classroom teachers, Playground equipment, etc. THIS YEAR’S REQUEST is for sun shade sails for the playground!
3 – Meals for staff during Parent Teacher Conferences – PTO caters food for both days to help teachers refuel to be there for our parents.
4 – Staff and Teacher Appreciation – PTO provides gifts and meals during Teacher Appreciation week as well as at the end of the year.
The Hawk Walk will take place on October 4th, but, there is a lot that goes on leading up to that day.
We are seeking corporate sponsorships to help offset the costs associated with running the event, this will allow us to bring in as much money as possible. If you or someone you know would like to be a corporate sponsor, please contact PTO ASAP. Deadline for a corporate sponsorship to receive recognition is September 9th. Sponsor Info
