2025 - 2026
Welcome to Mrs. Schaffer’s Art room!
There are no mistakes in art, just masterpieces in progress!! - Mrs. Schaffer
Mindfully, our art room has been transformed into a colorful community to promote trustworthiness, responsibility, respectfulness, fairness, caring and stellar citizens as they learn and create. Our class expectations are available and are posted within the room. These expectations bring creativity and success to our art community as well as reinforce the importance of our Character Counts pillars.
Included in this letter are the expectations of being an A.R.T. I.S.T. at New Vision Charter School. Please take some time to read through these with your child so they understand those expectations and how they lead to a successful year in art.
A - Act Responsibly and follow directions
R - Respect our room, supplies and each others
T - Try your best to be caring and fair
I - Imagination + stellar citizenship = successful artist
S - Stay seated and focused on your own work
T - Talk quietly and show trustworthiness by following the noise level light

work.
.
Curriculum
Core Knowledge Curriculum maps are available to view in art room. (Maps are subject to change).
We study a great deal of art history and then connect it to the students and their lives.
I look forward to seeing them create connecting projects within each unit.
In addition to Core Knowledge curriculum, we will incorporate our Character Pillars in each unit as it builds a stronger artist and citizen of our school and community.
Displaying of Art
I will do my very best to display as much art work as possible each and every unit. Selected art will be displayed in your students hallway. In addition, selected students will have art displayed at various art shows within the year.
Art Club
I have great aspirations to begin an elementary art club for New Vision.
Please watch for more details to come!!!
Art Website
You are Here!!! I will try to update website as special events are happening and we celebrate Stellar Artists.
Volunteers in the Art Room
If you are interested in helping out in the art room please email me. On a daily basis, there are small jobs that help our art room run smoothly and often larger projects that could use some extra adult assistance. I look forward to talking to you if you are interested in helping.
Communication
I am more than happy to meet with students and or parents by appointment since all of our schedules are different. Students needing to make up work or have questions about projects or grades please contact me and we will set up a time around our lunches or before/after school for this.
